Adult Leadership Series I:The (Original) 9-Month Program"LaPorte County is a huge place encompassing a lot of different places and people. The Adult Program helped me focus on what I can do to make a difference," 2000 Leadership Graduate. Focusing on various aspects of LaPorte County, the 9-Month Leadership Adult Program explores significant community issues from several points of view. Hands On:Through interactive and hands-on activities, participants study the qualities that make an effective leader; analyze their individual leadership roles; and develop their own leadership styles. These are the first steps toward encouraging individual involvement in leadership roles within the community and their respective organizations. Participants walk away with a greater sense of understanding of their community, all that it offers, and how they fit into the picture that is LaPorte County. "I now fully appreciate what goes on in the community. I'll be able to make better personal and business decisions and use what I've learned," 2000 Leadership Graduate. Program Timeline:The program is nine months long — a two-day seminar in September and then one full day each month, October through May. Graduation honors are earned by attending at least 7 of the 9 class sessions including the two-day retreat in September. Selection:Applications are reviewed by a committee of Leadership Board Members and Alumni. Approximately 30 participants are selected each year representing various areas of the community. A cross-section of the community in terms of occupation, gender, race, age and affiliation is sought. Tuition:Tuition for the program is $550, which includes all seminars, meals and course
materials. Tuition is paid by a sponsor organization or by the participant. |
