The Center for Creative Solutions provides a mastery level consulting team to help clients see the world in new ways and discover new alternatives that are strategic, practical, in-sync with their vision, and above all actionable.

The Center's Co-founders, Cynthia Hedge and Sandra Hathaway, have lengthy histories of public and professional service with individuals, groups, businesses, organizations and community. For over 15 years, they have worked together on various projects and blended their learning and communication styles to benefit organizations and individuals alike.

Along with Hedge and Hathaway, the Center contracts the expertise of other professionals in a wide range of fields to assist clients as needed.

Cynthia A. Hedge, J. D. is president and CO-founder of the nonprofit Center for Creative Solutions, Inc.. For well over 20 years, Hedge has operated a private law practice working closely with individuals, businesses, and organizations. She is the only woman to be elected to the office of prosecuting attorney in her home county. While serving as prosecuting attorney she developed new and creative programs in the criminal justice and social services systems. She has sat on both local and state and national boards of directors and has been active in community fund-raising. Now, she brings to others, this creative process.


Sandra M. Hathaway, M.S.W., L.S.W. is CO-founder of the nonprofit Center for Creative Solutions, Inc. Over the last 22 years, she was worked in social services which has undergone numerous changes as the culture has changed. She has served in various roles within social service culminating with her own private practice. She has first hand experience in developing strategies for finding creative solutions to life's problems. She is the author of Life Direction Mapping, Creating Healthy Life Direction which is an interactive workbook for personal and professional growth.

The Center for Creative Solutions Board of Directors bring a wide range of expertise to the organization. Their diverse backgrounds offer our clients guidance in making the mind, body and spirit connection for personal, professional, organizational and community growth and well-being.

Arlene L. Tarasick, Board President, has an extensive background in education. She retired from Michigan City, Indiana. Area Schools after 32 years experience. Over those years she served in a variety of roles as educator, administrator and coordinator of special services. She is a community activist and has worked closely with many local organizations. She brings to the board expertise in learning, communication and negotiation.


George R. Averitt, Board Vice-President, comes to Creative Solutions with a background in economics and journalism. He is past publisher of the News-Dispatch, Michigan City, Indiana. Currently, he is an instructor in Economics and Business for Purdue University North-Central, Westville, Indiana. Since the early 60's, he has been active in the community serving on numerous boards, committees and commissions. He brings to the board expertise in business and economics.


Elsa C. Littman, Board Secretary, is a licensed clinical social worker and ordained minister. Her work as a therapist, working with individuals, families and groups requires creative problem solving on a daily basis. In her role as facilitator, she has presented many workshops and retreats. Since 1994, she has been providing spiritual direction for individuals and groups. As a community volunteer, she serves as a pastoral care counselor at a regional hospital. She brings to the board her expertise in interpersonal and spiritual development.
